Elizabeth Murray lived a hard life. Her mother was hospitalized due to aids. Elizabeth was also homeless she lived on the streets with her sister (a close friend). Elizabeth saw and realized that education was the only way out of the hard times. I can relate to to Elizabeth when she realized that a good education was the only way out of the struggle. I do admit that we all have those tough times when we have to go without something. As long as I get my education I'm dine because I know I can get a good job at any time I want. And I will make money just like Elizabeth did.

The Authors purpose for writing this chapter of the book is to inform young ladies that boys are not important right now. the author tells us that girls waste time thinking about boys which is taking away from our other activities in life. don't worry about if that boy likes you or not. focus on you.
